Bellhop is a new mobile app for iOS that is under development. Other concierge apps have been featured on this site previously (Guestfolio and Checkmate), but Bellhop differs as it is a concierge system that goes beyond the hotel whereas Guestfolio and Checkmate are to be used during a hotel stay.
Because it is in a beta release, I won't be writing about how well the app works since it will be changing rapidly in the coming months. What I can say is the interface they have designed is quite simple to use and gives you all the information a traveller would require without having to search other services. It is minimalist in design and full of information with only a few taps.
The app will be connected to different services (Resy and Uber) so people can book dinner reservations or arrange for a taxi pickup with ease. I was quite impressed with how the restaurants are laid out in the app. A zoomable map allows you to find the restaurants closest to you. Selecting one, you get a short profile of the restaurant and the star rating for it. Presumambly, more information will be added in the future (menu items, or link to the restaurant website for example) to help people make a more informed choice.
The other features currently being built into the app include: - food delivery - shows and events - tours and activities - housekeeping
These are not fully implemented yet, but I will update this post as more information is released and the app is updated.
Currently, the app is only truly functional for New York City, with other cities (Miami, DC, LA, SF, Hamptons) to come on board in the coming weeks.
